Skopelos is the largest of the emerald islands of Sporades (Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos, Skyros) with crystal clear blue beaches to explore!

The island is full of pine forests that make it ideal for walking and hiking. There are two large settlements: Hora (Skopelos Town) on the east coast; and the hill village of Glossa, close to Loutraki port on the west coast. Skopelos is famous of

its enchanting view when you are entering the harbor, the 360 churches, the white painted houses and the narrow paved alleys. It is a traditional island known for its relaxed atmosphere. In Skopelos:

 Agnondas port (for ouzo &tsipouro)

 Panormos for coffee & relaxing…

Milia beach – with the best beach tavern…

 Kastani beach – the Mamma-Mia beach…

PalioKlima – a traditional village (see below)

Glossa – a village literary climbing the mountain…

Loutraki – enjoy the small port cafes &tavernas…

Skopelos Palio Klima village history & tradition:

The PalioKlima (Old Klima) is located between Neo Klima (Elios) and Glossa and it is ~24 km from Hora (Skopelos Town) on your way to Loutraki. It has a SouthWest

orientation with a terrific view to Skiathos; sometimes you can see Pelion area also. The village preserves a lot of its traditional architecture. It used to be split in two areas the Ano (upper) Klima and Kato (lower) Klima that was created from Glossa citizens during the 18th centrury.

During the island’s earthquakes, most of the residents moved to Neo Klima (Elios) and the village was abandoned. Nowadays, most of those houses are renovated (started around 1981) and life has come back to the village.

There used to be an excellent bakery that Magdelene (the owner) kept it going until the year 2000. However, Magdelene is still around… There used to be an old school too but is closed now (the building across the bus stop on the main road).

The village has the best sunset ever of the island and we suggest you to pay a visit – at least once. Check on your own!
